Student Organizations

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)

The ACM is the oldest organization supporting the activities of computing professionals.  The University of Idaho Student Chapter was formed in 1984.  It has active student participation and regular meetings open to all who are interested in participating.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)

The University of Idaho's Student IEEE chapter is a student organization for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science students. The chapter has a monthly meeting which is announced via email and fliers. In addition the chapter provides several activities each semester, ranging from ski trips to guest speakers to rafting trips to hydroelectric facility tours. Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

SWE was created to support the National goals of stimulating women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders. SWE is open to all students who are interested in improving their leadership, communication, networking and management skills. For more information visit the SWE web site.

Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society

The Tau Beta Pi Association, national engineering honor society, was founded at Lehigh University in 1885. The University of Idaho Chapter recognizes undergraduate students in the College of Engineering who have demonstrated distinquished scholarship and exemplary character. LUGUI - Linux User Group @ UI

The LUGUI seeks to support users of open source, alternative software, focusing on Linux. Anyone -tech savvy or not- interested in a broader, more realistic view of the software industry is invited to attend meetings. For more information visit the LUGUI web site.
